LINK means Leading Internships for New Knowledge. LINK is for juniors at AHS (Animas High School) to pick a field to study in with mentors that are professionals in the field that students are interested in. It is a three week long program, where AHS students can take what they have learned in the classroom and bring it out into the real world. It creates good relationships with the community that you are working with. Students do not attend classes for the whole three weeks. The total amount of hours that are needed to complete LINK are 90 hours. It helps students become more aware of what the outside world looks like and helps them prepare for college and life in general. LINK helps students see if they would like to pursue their interests or not and allows you to try doing what you love to do!

Describe your LINK Internship
My LINK internship was an amazing experience, one of the best times in my life. Being with a part of people that expected me for who I am was really an amazing feeling. It was really refreshing to get in a different environment and do what I love. What I mainly did in my internship was to clean up after the animals, to feed and water the animals, and to spend time with the animals. I did a lot of socializing with the puppies that came off of the streets, as well as cats that had problems with humans. I went on vet calls with my mentor and got to learn about all the different types of animal diseases are out there. I got to see when dogs got there forever homes. I just spent a lot of one on one time with the animals.
